Design

We shape each material’s colour and surface with manufacturing knowledge at the core, aligning design with real-world performance.

WHERE PERFORMANCE BEGINS

Every faux leather we produce begins with a considered balance of colour, texture, base cloth selection and coating formulation. Aesthetic intent and technical feasibility are developed together — ensuring that what looks right on a sample board performs reliably in real-world environments.

Because design and production sit under one roof in Lancashire, we maintain full control from concept through to final finish.

COLOUR DEVELOPMENT

Colour is central to how a space feels — and how a project is approved.

Our in-house capability allows us to develop contemporary palettes and controlled colour matches aligned to sector requirements. From calm healthcare neutrals to bold hospitality statements, colour is created with consistency in mind.

Batch-to-batch accuracy and repeatability are built into our process, ensuring long-term visual continuity across installations and reorders.

Where required, bespoke colour development can be explored in collaboration with our technical team.

Soft Texture Design
TEXTURE & SURFACE DESIGN

Texture gives a material character. It also affects durability, cleanability and wear.

Ambla faux leathers are available in a range of smooth, grain and textile-inspired finishes, developed to deliver visual depth without compromising performance. Embossing is carefully controlled to ensure clarity of detail and structural integrity over time.

Surface design at Ambla is about refinement — creating materials that feel considered, not decorative.

Bespoke Development

For projects requiring tailored solutions, our in-house design and technical teams can collaborate on custom developments.

This may include: Bespoke colour matching Custom embossing or surface effects Formulation adjustments for specific performance requirements

All bespoke work is assessed against manufacturing feasibility and sector compliance standards. We believe bespoke development should enhance performance, not complicate it.

DESIGN IN PRACTICE

Good design must hold up under pressure.

Ambla materials are known for handling well during upholstery and installation, cutting cleanly and maintaining structure through fabrication. They are developed to retain colour, finish and performance throughout sustained use.

The result is a material that supports designers, specifiers and makers equally — balancing aesthetic control with practical reliability.
